The Sony ECM-GZ1M Zoom Microphone is an in-camera monaural microphone with a shoe interface specially designed for Sony cameras and camcorders with the exclusive multi-interface shoe. The microphone is designed to help isolate desired sound from the subject while rejecting unwanted ambient noise. It offers two settings to choose from: a "Gun" mode which locks the microphone into a fixed shooting pattern, and a "Zoom" mode which dynamically adjusts the shooting pattern based on zooming in, making the shot shooting. Narrower microphone viewing angle when zooming in - Zoom mode requires a camera or camcorder with a zoom lens.
