A concentrate of innovation, a new SP experience

The SP 90mm f / 2.8 Macro VC (Model F017) is the latest version of a successful model, it is part of a legacy of high visual performance with new features that push back again, the limits of macro photography.

A linear stabilization system (on the X-Y plane) is added to the VC function which only included an angular stabilization system. Model F017 proposes a stabilization designed for macro photography (linear stabilization) and infinite shooting (angular stabilization). The AF, thanks to a USD engine control software, is faster and optimizes the refinement of the focus. A high level of tropicalization also characterizes this version which has more seals. The latest technological brushstroke is Tamron's fluorite coating applied to the front lens, which provides protection against liquids and other dirt that may occur during outdoor shooting.

The appearance of this new 90mm macro is the result of the "Human Touch" philosophy that characterizes the new SP series: a metallic feel that is pleasant to the touch and a particular focus on ergonomics and grip.

Combination of special glasses

With 14 lenses in 11 groups, the F017 offers a higher level of resolution thanks to its special lenses. The construction of this optic includes a Low Dispersion (LD) lens that minimizes chromatic aberrations and two XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) lenses that accentuate this correction. The optical defects related to the dispersion are corrected on all axes: from macrophotographic shooting to infinity. In addition, the optical design guarantees the best performance with a floating system that moves the elements according to the shooting distance.

Two types of coatings (eBAND and BBAR) treat the reflections with efficiency, they are applied on surfaces of elements critical for the transmission of light. The eBAND coating treats the visible rays and the BBAR coating (Broadband Anti-Reflection) uses a traditional multi-layer coating technology. This combination virtually eliminates unwanted reflections and ghosting effects.
Enhanced VC Image Stabilizer

An accelerometer has been integrated into Tamron's VC system (Vibration Compensation) to compensate for tremors in the X-Y plane (common in macrophotography).
